NFL Division Playoffs: Bobby and Deke make their picks

I am sticking to my guns of the first round not over-inflating my sense of these remaining teams.

Troy Aikman was 11-5 in the playoffs but just 1-4 on the road. The final blow was a 23-yard touchdown pass from Danny White to Drew Pearson with:47 seconds to go in the game.

The last time the Packers and Cowboys faced off, Dallas won but Rodgers passed for 294 yards. Six points was tied for the fewest total the Lions have scored all year long.

This time, the Seahawks face the top offense in the league in their building. The one game everyone thought would be a good one, Packers vs. Giants, ended up being the biggest blowout (25 points) while the game that was expected to be one of the most boring in a decade, Texans vs. Raiders, was decided by less than two touchdowns (13 points).

Jimmy Graham (TE, SEA) - The Falcons are among the worst at stopping the tight end, allowing 998 yards and eight TD on the season. The Eagles were able to beat Atlanta, 24-15 in week 10. All of the home teams won.

This weekend's games bring much better action on the field - closer games, at least - and I intend to keep pace in Best Bets. Atlanta 28, Seattle 24.

Date and time: Saturday, 8:15 p.m. Dallas also boasts the NFL's fifth-best scoring defense and one of the league's most dynamic linebackers in Sean Lee, another first-team All-Pro selection. Since Tom Brady returned to the lineup in Week 5, New England has averaged 30 points per game.

Since then, the Patriots have not lost, and outside of a Monday night game with Baltimore, the Pats haven't really been tested.

On Saturday, ESPN's early game between the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans brought in 25.3 million viewers, a number almost identical to last year's early Saturday game - which, like this year's, was a bit of a snooze. He's started 31 postseason games (the most by any player at any position), with the most 300-yard passing games (10), completions (738), passing yards (7,957) and passing touchdowns (56) ever.

Nate's prediction: Upsets can happen, but not in this one.

Steelers at Chiefs: Pittsburgh 27-20.Roethlisberger is becoming an historic playoff quarterback; he's 12-6 overall. That being said, Patriots fans will have more time to worry about the other more competitive divisional round playoff games. That game was played in Seattle, with Earl Thomas in the lineup. The Steelers got here by beating the Miami Dolphins in last week's wild card round, 30-12.

In my 7,698 days of being a Boston sports fan, I have never felt as confident as I do in the Patriots upcoming divisional round game vs the Houston Texans.

Keeping an eye on all things Steelers is something the Bengals should be doing this January. Each team has seen improvements in play since these teams first met early in the season. With Jacoby Brissett at quarterback earlier this season they beat the Texans 27-0. The Steelers always seem to find that extra gear in the playoffs. But the Falcons run the ball much better at home, and the crowd won't be against them.

Kansas City 20, Pittsburgh 17: No, this isn't a case of a Baltimore-based sportswriter wishing ill on the Ravens' biggest rival. - The Cowboys are riding the momentum of a season fueled by their two rookie stars, Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott.

Yet if you watched the Chiefs late in the year, you'd know they have found a way to make the splash plays too.

But Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has played well indoors and is red-hot. The big question here might be whether or not the playoff stage is too big for a young Cowboys team that dominated the regular season. Not a good stat when you're getting ready to go up against Aaron Rodgers. The fact that they only scored less than 24 points twice this season shows how hard this team is to beat.

The rest, as they say, is history.

#3 An Atlanta Falcons victory over the Seattle Seahawks - This one is the least important because I think the victor of Green Bay and Dallas is headed to the Super Bowl.
