New Tostitos party bag battles Super Bowl drunk driving

Tostitos revealed a limited-edition "Party Safe" bag that can tell when you have been consuming alcohol and even call an Uber for you, according to AdWeek. Not so fast. What if it's more than a simple bag? When you exhale into the empty bag, the steering wheel on the front will stay green if you're good to go, or turn an angry red if it thinks you should stay on the couch or take an Uber instead. The bag also offers an Uber discount code as an alternative to getting home. But being bloated on 67 chicken wings and an entire evening of crass commercialism is no excuse to drink and drive.

"We want football fans to get home safe", is the statement on the Tostitos website page.

The bags, which are outfitted with sensors, are able to detect any trace of alcohol on a person's breath. However, Frito-Lay is giving out 25,000 $10 Uber discounts on any of its chip bags sold between now and the Super Bowl.

If you don't have a designated driver, then ask a sober friend for a ride home; call a cab, friend, or family member to come and get you; or just stay in for the night.

To help further raise awareness for the partnership the company has partnered with Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker on a video spot.

The bag was created by Goodby Silverstein & Partners, a San Francisco-based advertising agency. "Thanks to Tostitos and Uber, it's easier than ever to make a safe choice if your plans include alcohol".

Somehow, this is not a joke, but neither is drunk driving, so at least Pepsi and Tostitos' hearts are in the right place. Just look for the barcode on the back of almost every bag of Tostitos, but act fast: The first-come first-served offer is available only on Super Bowl Sunday to the first 25,000 people in the continental United States and Hawaii.
