Miss France Iris Mittenaere crowned as Miss Universe

French model Iris Mittenaere was crowned Miss Universe 2017 at the Miss Universe Pageant held today (January 30, 2017) at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines.

Miss France Iris Mittenaere reacts as she is embraced by outgoing Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach after Mittenaere was announced as victor.

Raquel Pelissier of Haiti was the first runner-up, while Andrea Tovar of Colombia placed second runner-up. Sen said she was happy to be back in Manila, where she had been crowned Miss Universe more than two decades ago.

Mittenaere later on clarified in the post-pageant interview that what she meant was indeed med school, saying she had thought she did not pass on the first year because she could not find her name on the list of passers.

USA's Deshauna Barber, an early crowd favorite, Mexico's Kristal Silva and Canada's Siera Bearchell made it to top 9.

Steve Harvey blasted over Miss Universe mistake "You want the truth? She does embody the attributes of what a Miss Universe should be". Nevertheless, Miss France told the judges that her nation wants to have the most of globalization as much as possible. "I felt I was filing myself because I wasn't living my dreams; I was living day by day, and that natural disaster, it was a bad event, but I chose to be a very positive person and learn a great lesson from it because if I am here today, it's because I am living my dreams". Interestingly, 23 years down the line, life has come to a full circle for the attractive actress as she judged the Miss Universe contest this year.

When asked about what the atmosphere was like after the competition, she laughed and said everyone was excited to go back home.

Our way of congratulating Steve is to round up all his amusing moments during the Miss Universe show. Throughout the live telecast, the newly designed Miss Universe website and official Miss U App delivered exclusive content and highlights.

She's also someone who enjoys #nomakeup days more.

Miss France, Iris Mittenaere: The country should have the right to open or close their borders.

The image has been used to call for unity among Filipinos, and to discourage others from ripping Medina for her answer during the pageant's Q&A round. "A year late, but thank you".
