Manchester United goalkeeper Johnstone completes Villa loan move

Fabian Delph left Aston Villa to join Manchester City back in 2015 in acrimonious circumstances.

Johnstone had reportedly been eager to depart Old Trafford on a temporary basis during the close-season, but Joel Castro Pereira's loan switch to Belenenses meant the 23-year-old had to remain patient and serve as the first-team's third-choice keeper. "Aston Villa were interested and it's an opportunity I jumped at". Speaking at a press conference, manager Steve Bruce explained he will talk to his new player before making a decision.

"Sometimes it's about luck, it's about draws, but it's in our minds to go further in the Premier League and Europa League and of course the FA Cup too". Or do we let him train with the boys and get used to his surroundings for the next 10 days ahead of Wolves a week on Saturday. I'd be amazed if Spurs don't make at least eight changes. I am yet to decide.

"We have a young goalkeeper in Joel, a goalkeeper that played many minutes in the past six months in the Portuguese Primeira Liga", Mourinho said previously. We need to trust all our players.

Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has joined Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season. "I'm really excited to be here!". It's up to me to show the manager I'm worthy of that.

"I think you can see plenty of pictures of [players from] different leagues in Europe in swimming pools, on the beach and with their families, relaxing - but our players were training, playing and going to bed early at night".

"Under Steve Bruce, Villa have improved greatly - and so has the once poisonous atmosphere around the club".
