Cops question George Michael's lover over possible drug overdose

The 53-year-old died over Christmas at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire in what police said was an unexplained but non-suspicious incident.

George Michael's partner Fadi Fawaz has been questioned by police, as part of a probe into the singer's death.

"They want to build up an idea of what George's last seven days were like and who came and went", a source told the publication.

Police are trying to track down anyone who visited Michael's home the week before he died, according to the Daily Mail.

The 40-year-old photographer - who was rumoured to have been estranged from the "Different Corner" hitmaker for 18 months before his death - insisted last week he had fallen asleep in his auto on Christmas Eve and wasn't with George when he died.

Officials told The Mirror that while there is nothing suggesting that he did anything wrong, the Major Crimes Unit wanted to question Fawaz again to try and figure out if drugs really did play a role in the singer's death.

A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: "We are just taking statements as we would with any inquest".

He explained: "I never saw him [George] that night". A post-mortem examination proved "inconclusive," while the results of the toxicology tests are still pending. "That's the most important thing".

George had a well-documented battle with drug abuse throughout his career and his cousin recently revealed that he was treated for crack cocaine addiction in 2015.

"We had come up with this idea to have me and George Michael sitting in a auto, and it was the first time I had ever sung in a vehicle with anybody".
