Trump threatens payback for US companies that move abroad

Donald Trump is a "clever man" who will understand his new responsibility as US President quickly, according to Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

Mr Putin said in an interview with the NTV channel that he is confident Mr Trump will make responsible choices.

During the election campaign, Mr Trump called Mr Putin a better leader than US President Barack Obama - a remark which drew criticism in the US.

Earlier this week, during his annual address to Russian lawmakers, Putin said that Moscow is ready to cooperate with the new U.S. administration, stressing, "we have a shared responsibility to ensure worldwide safety".

Putin told Trump he was looking forward to stabilizing relations between the world powers with a "partner-like dialogue" and "mutual respect" after his election victory in November. When asked if there might be a follow-up phone call to Chinese leaders this week, Pence said probably not. To the extent that he was able to achieve success in business, this shows that he's a smart person.

"We don't want confrontation with anyone". We are not seeking and have never sought enemies.

He added: "We won't allow any infringement on our interests and neglect of them". But in Putin's address, he emphasizes that he is ready to mend whatever it is that needs mending with the USA government, especially after Trump's victory.

"We are ready for cooperation with the new American administration". It's important to normalise [sic] and develop our bilateral ties on an equal and mutually beneficial basis. Putin said when building relationships with other countries, Russian Federation would respect their interests. "We share responsibility for ensuring global security and stability and strengthening the non-proliferation regime".

"And you know the attractive part of getting along, Russian Federation wants to defeat ISIS as badly as we do. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing?"

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the balance in the world is restoring as attempts to create a unipolar world have failed.
