Rifle's Moeller earns First Teams All-Pac 12 award

Rifle's Moeller earns First Teams All-Pac 12 award

It's hard to envision Ohio State falling all the way out of the College Football Playoff at this point, but is it possible for Clemson or Washington to leapfrog the Buckeyes?

As much Heisman love as quarterback Jake Browning receives, and as many accolades as speedy wide receiver John Ross rightfully receives, Washingtons nasty defense, which ranks No. 1 in the Pac-12 in scoring (17.9), is the teams heartbeat and the reason the Huskies are in the playoff hunt in Chris Petersens third season.

Not in the two-year history of the playoff format have we seen a week like this. Plus, that was just a brutal quarter to watch as it was near 15 minutes of Leach's offense grinding out third down conversions with short passes. That could make the Washington run defense a little less scary for Lindsay and a little less risky for Liufau, who won't have to worry about Mathis' pass rush skills.

The No. 9 Buffaloes (10-2, 8-1 Pac-12) will play No. 4 Washington (11-1, 8-1) on Friday in the Pac-12 championship game, after which George said he will sit down with MacIntyre, as they do after every season, to discuss the state of the program.

It's been a dominant season for Washington (11-1, 8-1 Pac-12), who has blown out most of its opponents en-route to a Pac-12 North title.

If Colorado makes the Rose Bowl, either as an at-large team by way of a higher ranking or by an automatic berth as the Pac-12 champion by beating Washington, USC is headed to Texas.

Outside of Ohio State, each top-four squad will play in a conference championship game this weekend. "I felt that way when I was at Boise and they usually did".

Liufau injured his left foot in the first quarter against USC on November 13, 2015, with the team driving for a score. At Milpitas, Scrempos led his team in sacks three consecutive seasons and was an all-Northern California selection as a senior in 2014. Liufau and his receivers have to get the better of Washington's defensive backs, and winning some one on one match ups could make or break the Buffs' success.

Quarterbacks Jake Browning and Sefo Liufau ranked among the most prolific and consistent playmakers the Pac-12 had to offer. "Just to see them on film, they have some really good defensive backs, they've got a good front, so it's going to be a real good matchup all game long". Moeller was one of only two players on the team to garner first-team recognition. "That's what these young men have done, they keep lifting each other up and lifting us up".

“They have big, physical guys, ” WSU head coach Mike Leach said. Nothing is really flawless, but it's gone really well for us. We've got a big hurdle there.

Utah- Just like their game against the Huskies, they were right there with the Buffaloes and let another key conference win slip through their fingers. We know what we're capable of. The Huskies took on Falk and it equated to seven more points in Pullman.

As scary as Washington's defense is, they actually rank four spots behind the Buffs in total defense. They have size, speed and most importantly, a Heisman hopeful QB throwing them passes. The strength of schedule as I've said before has been a concern (and) continues to be a concern for us, but Washington has played some good teams. "Our offense has done well". Who they play there is still up in the air, but Oklahoma State seems like the most likely option (with Oklahoma and West Virginia also in the conversation). Kelly and Williams were selected exclusively as Freshmen of the Year because offense and defense weren't designated then. They could also force Browning to make a mistake, either by fumble or by interception. At Valley Christian, he was a second-team all-state player who accumulated 30 tackles for loss, including 13 sacks, his senior year.
