Man United to begin FA Cup defense against 2nd-tier Reading

Holders Manchester United will host Championship side Reading, managed by former Red Devils defender Jaap Stam, after the draw took place on Monday.

Stam was a cult hero in his three years at United and the defensive rock of the team who won the 1999 Treble that included an FA Cup final win against Newcastle.

He's been in charge of Reading since the summer, and his side now sit third in the Championship table, six points back from Newcastle in first.

"I've got him a job with Klopp now, he's happy now", Wright immediately remarked as Gerrard patted him on the back.

"He has raised the standard of the whole club in a quiet way and he's a leader". "I look forward to that", the former England striker told the BBC. "He was a superb centre-half for United".

The romance of the cup was in short supply with Stourbridge, the Northern Premier Division club, heading to Wycombe if they can get past their rearranged second-round clash with Northampton.

A number of Premier League clubs have been handed home draws.

Chelsea will host Notts County or Peterborough, English champions Leicester City will visit fellow top-flight side Everton. This weekend, however, they were thrashed 5-1 by Arsenal at home, and City will hope that West Ham shows up next month.

Pep Guardiola's first experience of the world's oldest knock-out cup competition will be at West Ham.
