Lawyers for Trump announced Friday that all three lawsuits against the now-defunct Trump University were settled with no admission of wrongdoing.

Trump tweeted Saturday that he settled the suit so he could "focus" on the country.

"The victims of Trump University have waited years for today's result, and I am pleased that their patience-and persistence-will be rewarded by this $25 million settlement".

Trump has agreed to a $25 million settlement to resolve three lawsuits over Trump University, his former school for real estate investors.

He followed up with another Tweet shortly after: "The ONLY bad thing about winning the Presidency is that I did not have the time to go through a long but winning trial on Trump U. Too bad!"

He said $21 million of the settlement would go to reimburse the Trump University plaintiffs in San Diego.

It promised to teach students investing techniques they could use to get rich on real estate, just like President-elect Trump.

Now, around 6,000 injured persons will split the settlement cash, with $1 million going to NY state as a penalty for violating education laws.

U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel last week urged both sides to meet with a veteran judge for a final crack at coming to a settlement.

It comes as the US Senate's top Democrat says he is "very concerned" about Mr Trump's choice of Jeff Sessions for attorney general, after he also selected retired general Mike Flynn as national security adviser and Kansas representative Mike Pompeo as Central Intelligence Agency director.

In a late Friday announcement, Schneiderman celebrated the settlement, which he described as a "stunning reversal" on the part of Trump, who fought "every step of the way".

"This man fights for what he believes in and I respect that", Forge said, referring to Trump.

He was facing litigation in California and New York - two class-action lawsuits in San Diego, as well as a lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. He was set to testify in San Diego later this month, although his lawyers had asked the court to postpone the trial so Mr. Trump could prepare for the presidency.

While the initial Trump University seminar was free, teachers would then lure them for another programme.

"And when you start settling cases, you know what happens?" That's why I won't settle because it's an easy case to win in court, ' Trump said on MSNBC's Morning Joe earlier this year.

Curiel was set to consider on Friday Trump's lawyers' requests to delay the start of the trial from November 28 until next year, arguing the transition process made a trial too much of a challenge at this point. I don't do it because that's why I don't get sued very often, because I don't settle, unlike a lot of other people.
