Giants heading toward first playoff berth since 2011

The former Alabama All-American had two interceptions in New York's 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on October 23, picked off another pass in a 28-23 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on November 6 and intercepted a deep throw by Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton on Monday night.

A duel between two of the NFL's elite wide receivers came down to the wire with the New York Giants pulling out a late 21-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

While that may be an overreaction at this point, saying they'll return to the playoffs for the first time since 2011 isn't.

"We like the position we're in".

"It was a game that went back and forth and we didn't win the back and forth enough", Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. He completed 28 of 44 passes, but only for 240 yards. Every game we've been playing is tight. I can really feel this team jelling.

Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes, with the biggest being a 3-yard toss to rookie Sterling Shepard on a fourth-and-goal early in the fourth quarter with NY trailing 20-14.

When Manning came to the sideline, McAdoo told him they were in four-down territory.

"Shepard just had a shallow route", Manning said.

You can pin much of the Giants' hot streak to the resurgent play of Beckham, who started the season with decent yardage stats but no touchdowns and a bit of a screw loose. The division is wide open and we are just letting it slip away.

The fourth-quarter struggles overshadowed a strong start to the second half. He said he missed a block during the game, got bull-rushed and put Dalton in jeopardy.

"We're trying to figure out what we need to do to have these outcomes be different and there's not one explanation for it, " Dalton said. Jeremy Hill had a 9-yard TD run and the Bengals later added Mike Nugent's 38-yard field goal for a 20-14 lead in the third quarter. "Just got to keep winning".

Trailing 21-20 early in the fourth quarter, Dalton was intercepted by Landon Collins. He went 16 of 29 for 2014 yards with 1 scoring pass and 1 pick tonight. Near the 1:15 mark of the second quarter, the Giants took a 14-10 lead. Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's 71-yard reception on his team's opening drive is a career long. Odell Beckham Jr. had 10 receptions for 97 yards, and Rasheed Jennings had 87 yards rushing for a ground game that was averaging less than 70 yards through eight games. Green. But instead of going uptempo to drive down the field to try to counter the Giants' attack, they called a running play for 2 yards (that took 31 seconds off the clock), threw three short passes to run the clock down to three seconds, then attempted a Hail Mary to end the half. One theory has been the election; two presidential debates were held at the same time as prime-time National Football League games, and some cable news networks reported soaring numbers in the buildup to last Tuesday's balloting. New York WR-KR Dwayne Harris (toe) left in the second half, as did the Bengals DE Wallace Gilberry (calf).

Tom Coughlin was the final speaker during Monday's Ring of Honor ceremony during which Coughlin, Justin Tuck and Ernie Accorsi were honored.
