Donald Trump outlines policy plan for first 100 days

Uploading a video on Twitter, trump said, "Today I would like to provide the American people with an update on the White House transition and our policy plans for the first 100 days".

Donald Trump said that whether it is producing steel, building cars or curing diseases, he wants the next generation of production and innovation to happen in America.

China is not part of the TPP and has been pushing an alternative vision of free trade in Asia under the so-called Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which does not now include countries in the Americas.

After meeting potential hires, Trump hosted private talks with a group of top United States news anchors and executives - with whom he repeatedly feuded during the campaign.

Malaysia has said it would shift its focus from TPP to RCEP, and Vietnam, which is also party to both deals, will shelve its ratification of TPP due to political changes in Washington.

In an economic white paper and various opinion pieces, Navarro, a University of California-Irvine business professor and Ross, a billionaire private equity investor who is being considered by Trump to lead the Commerce Department, said they want future US trade deals to include "prompt triggers and automatic renegotiation if trade gains are not distributed fairly".

Trump argued during his campaign that he would cancel or renegotiate trade deals the US has with other countries.

Mr Trump also said many people would like to see Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage as British ambassador to Washington. "He would do a great job!"

Matthias Helble, a research economist at the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo, said Trump's announcement that bilateral trade deals would replace TPP "comes at a high cost". Last week, he became the first foreign leader to meet Trump since his November 8 election victory.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that "TPP without the United States would be meaningless".

"If the US gives up its leadership here, of course China will take the role", said Tu Xinquan, a trade expert at Beijing's University of International Business and Economics, who has advised China's government on trade issues. "At some point they're going to have to give some consideration to that". "We should prevent fragmentation of economic and trade arrangements or politicizing such agreements". Meanwhile, China also is moving ahead with rival free-trade initiatives.

There have been multiple protests and public condemnations of Trump and his cabinet appointments and little but a few tweets from Trump following the election result - so here he is revealing his plans to fulfill the promise to make America great again.

Trump said among his first actions would be to "issue our notification of intent to withdraw from the Transpacific Partnership" and replace it with negotiating "fair bilateral trade deals".

"In a renegotiation, one side can come in with requests, but the other side is going to expect concessions", said Wendy Cutler, a former deputy U.S. Trade Representative (USTR).

"On regulation, I will formulate a law, which says that for every one regulation, two old regulations must be eliminated", he said.

Trump also said he would ask defense officials to create plans to protect the U.S. "from cyber-attacks and all other form of attacks".

On ethics reform, government officials will be banned from becoming lobbyists within the first five years after leaving office and will be banned from lobbying on behalf of a foreign government for life.
