Canadiens blank Canucks for eighth straight win

Canadiens blank Canucks for eighth straight win

Montreal (9-0-1) remains the only team still undefeated in regulation time this year. His stellar 42-save performance gave him his 37th career shutout.

It was more of the same in the second, as the Canucks kept Price busy, with Montreal not registering its first shot until six and a half minutes in. Montreal has a very well balanced roster and have some of their important forwards gaining experience as the likes of Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher are a year older and will be leaned on for a huge bulk of the offensive work load this season.

The Canadiens relied heavily on goaltender Carey Price, who was the difference maker against the Vancouver Canucks. Price meanwhile hasn't skipped a beat and with a blue line group led by newcomer Shea Weber in front of him I think this team has potential to go on a serious playoff run.

"We had a good effort today creating shots". "Maybe the guys were shooting a little too fine, knowing who was in net".

In recent days, Jaroslav Halak's agent has come out and voiced his displeasure about the Islanders using three goalies.

Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu believes Montreal's victory over Vancouver on Wednesday night should act as a wake-up call.

The Habs doubled their lead in the last minute of the second period on Mitchell's team-high fifth goal of the year.

Torrey Mitchell and Alexander Radulov, into an empty net, also scored for Montreal.

Ryan Johansen and Matt Irwin each scored his first goal of the season, while Roman Josi added an insurance goal late for the Predators, who won their first road game of the season. Mitchell came storming down the wing on a 2 on 1 with Phillip Danault, who found his streaking teammate with a cross-crease pass. Miller, who was playing the shot, had no chance on the goal.

"The first half of the game we deserved a better fate", said Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins.

Phillip Danault, Brian Flynn and Torrey Mitchell could be the best line in the National Hockey League, all three players acquired by Marc Bergevin, who gave up little to get the trio.

It set a new 2016-17 Canadiens season low for shots on goal in a period. Vancouver LW Alexandre Burrows and RW Derek Dorsett returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games with injury. The tenth game of the season was certainly a trap for the Canadiens and every opponent will only be coming harder, wanting to be the first to hand them their first loss in regulation.

Forward Daniel Carr and defenceman Joel Hanley were part of the group, both called up from the St. John's IceCaps in AHL St. John the day before.
