Alexis Sanchez suffers low-grade muscle injury during Chile training

He will miss Chile's World Cup qualifying match against Colombia on Thursday, but will be evaluated before the November 15 match against Uruguay.

"The Chile medical department informs that Alexis Sanchez suffers a low grade muscular injury", the national federation said.

The defending Copa America champion, Chile is fifth in South American World Cup qualifying with 16 points, five behind leaders Brazil.

Original reports claimed Sanchez had torn his calf muscle, but Chile's medical staff damped those fears by diagnosing him with a less severe injury.

The statement added the Arsenal striker had suffered a "minor muscle injury" but gave no further details.

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin reportedly missed training with the Spain Under-21 side on Tuesday to add to Arsene Wenger's worries.

Arsenal have a busy spell of games coming up after the worldwide break, and losing Sanchez for any length of time would be a massive blow.

The former Barcelona player has scored eight goals for Arsenal in the current English Premier League season.

Arsenal now sit fourth on the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal are not in action until they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in 11 days' time.
