JK Rowling reveals plans for four further films in Fantastic Beasts franchise

Fantastic Beasts is set around 70 years before Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger attend Hogwarts - and long before Professor Dumbledore takes over as headmaster.

In a Facebook Q&A earlier today, the billionaire novelist declared that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - which hits theaters on November 18, 2016 - is officially being planned as a five-film series.

"We can't tell you too much, obviously", he prefaced, saying only, "We do mention Dumbledore in this movie, and he kind of features a little bit in a scene between Colin [Farrell] and Eddie [Redmayne]".

But what do we know so far? We set a trilogy as a placeholder.

"I've now done the plotting properly, so we're pretty sure it's going to be five movies".

The Fantastic Beasts film, due to hit screens on November 17, is set in NY, and tells the story of a fictional author mentioned in the Harry Potter stories.

Director David Yates also said, according to Deadline, that while the first movie takes place in NY, the second will be set in another major global hub.

Fantastic Beasts also dropped this extended featurette, and if you look closely, you might just see the Sign of the Deathly Hallows - and the big bad Grindelwald himself. The first installment, which stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, is due out this November, presumably with four different sequels to follow.
