Jayalalithaa to remain in hospital, no need for substitute CM: AIADMK

With Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa continuing to receive treatment, a stream of high-profile visitors, including Kerala Governor P Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, today visited the Apollo Hospital and enquired about her health.

DMK leader MK Stalin and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had gone to the hospital earlier.

There still seems to be no end of spread of rumours about the CM's health as politicians from nearly all the major parties in the country visited Apollo Hospital to enquire about her health.

Staunch supporters of TamilNadu chief minister JJayalalithaa, who has been in the hospital for a fortnight now, have taken to several unconventional methods to pray for her recovery.

India's Tamil Nadu state is awash with rumours about Chief Minister Jayaram Jayalalitha, about whose health little has been heard since she was taken to hospital two weeks ago, reports TS Sudhir.

According to a Apollo Hospital bulletin released on October 4, Jayalalithaas health "continues to improve" and is "making a gradual progress" but she will have to stay longer in hospital.

Doctors have said that she has to be kept under ventilator for a few more days.

Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital on the night of September 22 and doctors had initially said that she was brought in with complaints of fever and dehydration. "I am fully confident that she will recover soon", Narayanasamy told reporters after visiting the hospital.

People were eager to know about the treatment being provided to Jayalalithaa and the detailed statement answers it all, she said.

CPI (M) state Secretary G Ramakrishnan also visited Apollo Hospitals and wished speedy recovery of Jayalalithaa. Lung decongestion treatment is being continued, he added. He also asked Singh to place the state's legislative assembly in "suspended animation" till Jayalalithaa was able to resume office. She is being provided with necessary respiratory support, antibiotics, nutrition, supportive therapy & passive physiotherapy.

Bedi also highlighted that she had wanted to meet Jayalalithaa to request for land for expanding the Puducherry airport.
