USA journalist Patrick Perry praised for pulling pregnant woman from burning auto

A news cameraman in Louisiana is being hailed a hero after pulling a pregnant woman out of her burning vehicle after crashing on the side of the road.

Perry came across the burning vehicle and rushed to help, picking up the 21-year-old woman and carrying her away from the wreckage of the auto. "I'm over here!'" Perry said.

Meanwhile, reporter Brittany Weiss with grabbed a camera and recorded the whole thing.

"I pull on the driver side, it did not want to open".

'I started hearing a voice - a very soft voice - saying "I'm over here, I'm over here",' Perry recalled to WBRZ. "So, Brittany, she went to go get the camera and I just took off running toward the burning auto", Perry said. She said, 'I'm over here! "You're going to be safe".

Others who stopped called 911 and helped comfort the woman until paramedics arrived.

The 21-year-old woman seemed confused and weak, but didn't appear to be severely injured.

She was then rushed to hospital, where she and her baby are believed to be doing well. "How many people do you know that would go into a burning auto and pull you out?" "We normally go out and cover stories like this here and never be a part of the story", Perry said.

In a subsequent interview, Perry said "We're human first, you know...tell the story second".
