Ryan Moore becomes US Ryder Cup captain Love's last pick

He has not had a Ryder's victory since 2008. If you lose all your matches and your team win, it doesn't matter.

And somehow, European captain Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland has convinced nearly everybody that his team is the underdog.

The selection of Moore means two-time Masters champion Watson, the world number seven, will be absent from Hazeltine.

"We're not going to have that rough next week", continued Mickelson. Those guys (on the European team) have earned their place as of right.

"There are six (rookies for Europe) but the talent that they all possess, I've got no worries at all about the strength of that team". They have a lot of very talented players in there. The four-time PGA Tour victor kept up with McIlroy for four holes in what seemed somewhat like a Ryder Cup preview.

Woods has not returned to the green since past year.

Ryder Cup veterans Lee Westwood of England, Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, Sergio Garcia of Spain, Henrik Stenson of Sweden, Justin Rose of England and Martin Kaymer of Germany lead the Euros. The Ryder Cup will be held September 27th - October 2nd. "And they have momentum from past successes".

Clarkeconfirmed his line-up four weeks ago, while counterpart Davis Love III only just named his final wild card overnight. "He's an easy-going, thoughtful guy, but don't be fooled, Ryan's a great match-play player with an incredible match-play record". He has played well in some big tournaments this year. Europe has dominated Ryder Cup in the last ten competitions, winning it eight times, but former American golfer Johnny Miller does not give them much of a chance this time around as he believes that the current European team is one of the worst.

The American players complained about not having any control of the millions of dollars generated by the event, and now they are able to earmark some of it toward charities they choose.

"It's been a great year so far and this is right up there", he said. Holmes, Brandt Snedeker and Ryan Moore.

"I've had a lot of text messages go through but Paul McGinley, the previous captain, texted me and said "This is sort of the first of hopefully a lot of momentum for Europe during the next few days", said the 27-year-old. "I think I will have a Ryder Cup at some point". The bottom line is it doesn't matter if you want to blame individuals or the captain - both sides all have to buy in.

"I've played really, really well but I've putted well also". It was an empty feeling. I'm pretty confident about how we're going to go about our business.

"I don't think anyone knows everything that went wrong with the USA but it sure looked like they didn't get done what they needed to get done in terms of being a team".

Hazeltine is where they hope to start turning that around.
