Nassib stumbles in start for Manning, Dolphins win 27-10

Ryan Nassib threw a pair of picks in New York's 27-10 preseason opening loss to Miami. Both the Dolphins and Giants had a game full of penalties and turnovers, the first half of this game looked as if the Dolphins forget to show up.

The Giants offense would later score on a 20-yard field goal following a Jonathan Casillas interception but would put up no points after that.

Nassib turned the ball over again on his next opportunity, this time on another underthrown pass that was intended for receiver Myles White. A fumble and return by Spencer Paysinger set up Damien Williams' 5-yard TD run, and an interception by A.J. Hendy led to a 51-yard TD pass from Matt Moore to Matt Hazel. Four plays and 25 yards later, quarterback Zac Dysert connected with tight end Thomas Duarte for a 16-yard touchdown. The former Dolphin harassed his old teammate Ryan Tannehill, notching two quarterback hits and limiting him to just eight yards. Nassib has appeared in five regular-season games in his three-year career, completing 9-of-10 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Playing into the fourth quarter before being lifted, he finished 7-of-15 for 75 yards, with two interceptions, a lost fumble and a quarterback rating of 22.2.

Dolphins: Dolphins first-round pick Laremy Tunsil didn't start, but played most of the game at left guard and held his own.

Before they left the game, both rookies made impactful plays. Linebacker B.J. Goodson lead the team with seven tackles and safety Darian Thompson was solid as well.

The late start and the pre-game rain dropped the temperature to 76 degrees at kickoff.

Dolphins: Grant (rib), S Shamiel Gary (neck), DE Chris McClain (elbow) and DE Julius Warmsley (concussion) did not return. Bobby Rainey also fumbled a punt return but was recovered by rookie cornerback Eli Apple.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Geremy Davis injured his hamstring during the game. Fellow wideout Victor Cruz, who did not play Friday night because of a groin issue, could practice Sunday - "hopefully".

"When I've got single man coverage, I've just go to put a little more air under it and let those guys run underneath it", Nassib said. "But they started getting their hands on the ball and flipping the momentum and really got the game going for us".

Giants: "Ball security is the No. 1 priority and I didn't do a good job of it, " said Nassib, who has thrown 10 National Football League regular-season passes in his first three seasons. "It's just preseason, so we've got a lot of work to do".
