Trump will name Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his VP, reports say

On Thursday, multiple news organizations reported that GOP candidate Donald Trump has selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence to be his running mate - though after the reports circulated, the Trump camp denied making the decision.

"In light of the disgusting attack in Nice, France, I have postponed tomorrow's news conference concerning my Vice Presidential announcement", Trump tweeted late Thursday after a truck plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, leaving dozens dead.

Mr Trump had also seriously considered former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. "Clearly Mike is one of those".

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee is to announce his choice on Friday morning (local time) in Manhattan. Pence will add credibility and momentum to Trump's campaign heading into next week's Republican National Convention, Collins told guest host Sandra Smith.

In the race to the White House, running mates can play a big factor in who makes it to the top, and Curry recommends different strategies for Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

But Pence is also a controversial governor, who signed legislation critics say would allow discrimination against gays and lesbians.

Gingrich calmly answered questions about the selection process on Facebook Live, saying he had told Trump the choice was between having "two pirates on the ticket or a pirate and a relatively stable, more normal person".

Indiana Republican committee member Barbara Krisher of Fort Wayne said she has talked with some candidates in recent days, but others might jump in once a Pence decision is known.

The campaign hopes that Mr Pence will help boost Mr Trump's image with social conservatives who have been unsettled by Mr Trump's brash persona.

Sessions said Thursday Trump was thinking deeply about the decision and analyzing choices - but he would not say if Trump has made up his mind. He's had a long history - 12 [years] in the Congress and now as governor of in with a good record. And MSNBC's on-screen graphic said Trump "could" select Pence.

"[Pence] has been in support of Barack Obama, his Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact that Donald Trump says he wants to tear up". Indianapolis television station WTHR posted a video showing Pence arriving Thursday evening at a private airport outside NY.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence will be Donald Trump's running mate.

"I don't know if he's going to be your governor or your vice president, who the hell knows?"
