The Countdown to the 2016 NFL Season and the Unfolding Stories

The Countdown to the 2016 NFL Season and the Unfolding Stories

Football action is almost starting and many fans would like to know the exact dates for the preseason and the regular season. On the night of August 7, Indianapolis and Green Bay will kick start the 2016 NFL preseason with an exhibition game, which will take place in Canton, Ohio’s annual Hall of Fame. ESPN will broadcast the game at 8 p.m. ET as fans anticipate the NFL teaser picks. The Carolina Panthers versus the Denver Broncos game is the opening match of the 2016 NFL regular season beginning on Thursday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m.

A sneak preview of the upcoming season shows that Tom Coughlin will be absent, the Rams have left St. Louis, and Peyton Manning has pensioned off. Training camps open with mayhem in the wind, as fans wait to react solemnly to imminent injuries that may befall big-name players due to the physical nature of the wonderful game. The NFL franchise has also shifted for the first time since 1997 when the Oilers relocated to Tennessee.

Generally, I doubt if Mannings retirement will considerably change the course of the 2016 NFL season because other skilled quarterbacks still rank high. They include Tom Brady, Cam Newton Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, and Eli, the young brother to Peytons. However, the Denver Broncos will feel nostalgic due to Mannings absence.

Even though GM John Elway agreed to Von Millers’ contract terms, Denver still has to stomach the free agency defections of Danny Trevathan and Malik Jackson, which shakes up their excellent defense. In a brave statement to show that they have embraced change, Coach Gary Kubiak said that their focus sticks to the game even if the team has experienced unanticipated distractions, which happens to every team after all.

As soon as Coughlin forcefully resigned after a dozen seasons, the New York Giants brought in fresh blood on the sideline. The new coach, Ben McAdoo, now counts his first top job in his career in the pros. He has an uphill task of ensuring the Giants make it to the playoffs after a devastating four-year absence. He will be under pressure because team owners and GM Jerry Reese spent highly in free agency to stabilize the team.

Quarterback Eli Manning believes that the Giants have talented players and they have to capitalize on their abilities and step up to make impeccable plays. According to linebacker Devon Kennard, the offseason has given them the confidence to improve their game because most newly signed players have a huge experience in the NFL.

Other newly signed head coaches include Tampa’s Dirk Koetter, Miami’s Adam Gase, Cleveland’s Hue Jackson, San Francisco’s Chip Kelly, and Philadelphia’s Doug Pederson. Tennessee has also appointed Mike Mularkey as their head coach from an interim position.

To the detriment of St. Louis, the Los Angeles Rams bounces back to the NFL roster. Undoubtedly, the Rams will not see much difference in the NFL. However, they left their aging LA Coliseum home in 1995, as they await their Inglewood palace to be ready in 2019.

Even though NFL owners desired to return to Hollywood, the infatuation of NFL fans in Southern California remains uncertain. However, Kevin Demoff, the GM of the Rams seems unmoved saying they have worked tirelessly over the last five months to stabilize the team. He appreciates the love and warm reception the SoCal people have endowed them.

Amazingly, Tom Brady is now free from the Deflategate scandal is over, but will serve a four-game suspension for the opening games of the regular season. Accordingly, the biggest upheaval would be Jimmy Garoppolo quarterbacking the Patriots.
