'Sultan' crosses Rs 300 crore mark in opening weekend worldwide

Incidentally, Sultan's five-day India haul (Rs 180.36 crore) has already crossed the lifetime domestic collection of Airlift (Rs 127.8 crore), Housefull 3 (Rs 107.7 crore) and Fan (Rs 85 crore). The sports-drama film is now touted to be the highest grossing Bollywood film in terms of opening weekend collection worldwide. It's not exactly apples-to-apples as PRDP bowed on a Thursday and Sultan had a Wed-Sun debut.

Salman Khan has two movies now - Ek Sultan and Tha Tiger that have released on Wednesday.

Bollywood is impatiently waiting to see whether Sultan will break the record of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which is the biggest hit of Salman so far with Rs. 316 crore earnings.

Salman Khan's Eid release has now become the fastest film to touch the Rs 150 crore mark after crossing it at the beginning of day 5. He now has 10 to his name.

Amongst the latest milestones that Sultan has passed is not just cross the Rs 300 crore milestone globally during the 5-day opening weekend period, but create a record by becoming the highest grossing Bollywood movie with its opening weekend collection across the world. Raises the bar for Hindi film biz... The total (gross) has therefore shot up to a whopping Rs 342.50 crore.

Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sultan has refused to slow down at the Box Office.

A Pakistani thriller named Sawaal 700 Crore Dollar Ka opened poorly, as did the week's Hollywood releases - The Legend of Tarzan, Ice Age: Collision Course, Finding Dory and The Secret Life Of Pets.

After Sultan's record-breaking opening, producer Aditya Chopra has been super-impressed by the response it is receiving at the ticket windows throughout the country.

Bollywood pundits expect Sultan, which has an essentially unfettered run ahead of it, will cross 200 crore in the next few days.

This record was held by Bajrangi Bhaijaan after it collected Rs 27.25 crore on the day before Eid.
