Pokemon Go invades America, finally gets us to exercise


US shares of Japanese video game company Nintendo (NTDOY) climbed to their highest level in five years on Monday on reports of strong demand for its new mobile game "Pokemon Go".

With that many people playing Pokemon GO, you're bound to have some insane stories pop up.

Market intelligence firm Sensor Tower estimates "Pokemon Go" already has 7.5 million USA downloads on the Apple App Store and Google Play since early Thursday, with $1.6 million in daily revenue in Apple's iOS store alone, Forbes reported.

Google's track record of complying with 78 per cent of requests from law enforcement past year is an indication that Niantic will probably be prepared to cooperate.

Many players on iOS, however, didn't realize that by going the Google route, they were also granting the game full access to their Google accounts.

"I really wish I could play, it looks like great fun, but there's no way it's worth the risk", Reeve wrote.

The report also reveals that on average players are putting in around 43 minutes of game time a day, which is a higher daily active usage rate than Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp. Four suspects in one of the Missouri cases were charged with armed robbery.

Just the fact that so many people are playing in a country where the game hasn't even been released is something special.

The pitfalls of the game have taken more subtle forms.
