National Football League upholds 4-game suspension for Tom Brady

The New England Patriots will open the 2016 National Football League season on the road on a Sunday night against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Patriots do have experience playing at UOP Stadium - they've split a pair of Super Bowls played there, including a thrilling win over the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX two seasons ago.

The most rousing storyline surrounding this game is watching Chandler Jones in his first game as a Cardinal against his former team.

The NFL is expected to release the full week-by-week scheduled at 8 p.m. This piece will examine each of the 2015 NFL Draft picks made by the Patriots looking not just at the player and spot drafted, but the role they played in 215, their anticipated role in 2016 and beyond, and giving the pick a grade with a year of perspective.

The other three come in a row: A Thursday night game in San Francisco Oct. 6, a Monday night game at home against the New York Jets Oct. 17, and then a Sunday night game at home against NFC West rival Seattle Oct. 23.

The Patriots close out the regular season with consecutive division games.

The end of a brutal three-week stretch to end the first half of the season takes the Cardinals to the site of their last two playoff exits.

The home opener will be September 18 against the Miami Dolphins, a 1 p.m. start. The Patriots offense will have plenty to prove in this game after failing to overcome the conditions of Mile High Stadium or mismatches in the trenches in last year's AFC Championship Game. But every new season brings a fresh handful of absolute can't-miss, consider-skipping-major-life-milestones kind of games.

October 16 - vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. The only time the Patriots have opened the season against an NFC opponent on the road was in 1992 when they traveled to Los Angeles to battle the Rams.

No long stay out West: With road games against Arizona, San Francisco and Denver, the Patriots had hoped that two of them would be paired together, which would open the possibility of limiting travel and spending a week on the road, as they've done in the past.

Sun., Nov. 20: at Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium, 11 a.m. With the 2016 NFL Draft just a few weeks away, it is the ideal time to look back at last year's draft.

Vince Wilfork, who spent 11 seasons in New England, played against his former teammates last December at NRG Stadium.
