US Gives Nawaz Sharif Proof of Pakistan Hand in Gurdaspur Attack

The premier stayed in the Governor's House, where he was given a detailed briefing by the K-P PDMA on the damages and destruction caused and the ongoing relief activities. He said 248 deaths have been reported from different parts of the country so far while 1665 people were injured.

Losses occurred due to landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan region, he mentioned.

Two helicopters have been deployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan to oversee the rescue and relief activities in addition to ground teams. The affected people are being provided food, blankets, tents and medicines.

"Expressed my gratitude to PM Nawaz Sharif for his efforts that ensured Geeta returned home", the Prime Minister said. He appreciated the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for their relief work.

Earlier, while being in London, where he reached from Washington, the Prime Minister directed all federal agencies to declare immediate alert and mobilize all resources to carry out relief and rescue operations.

He said Utility Stores outlets are also being used to provide relief goods to the affected people in different areas.

Talking to a private news channel, the advisor said that both Pakistan and the USA fully support the Afghan reconciliation process.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation after Monday's 8.1 intensity quake with huge losses of life and property.
