Alabama vs. Ole Miss Score, Recap & Analysis

Alabama vs. Ole Miss Score, Recap & Analysis

All week long Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze had his team believing it could go to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and duplicate last season's magic and be right back in the talks of a division title and college football playoff berth.

To start, I discount the theory Alabama is out of the national championship picture with the loss to Ole Miss. Well, the worst fears for Nick Saban and Co. may have been realized. As a member of the Big 12, the Bears will face off with TCU later in the season.

Trailing by 23 points midway through the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets (2-1) scored two late touchdowns, pulling to within one possession with 22 seconds left. If other words, sometimes the patsy wins. The Cardinal reentered the poll after a one-week absence at No. 21. Wunderlich was good on a 32-yard field goal, and the Rebels led 3-0 about a half minute into play.

almost half of Chad Kelly's 341 passing yards and two of his three touchdowns came on those two game-changing plays mentioned above. Combine that with their typically nasty defense, and Fournette has the Tigers in the mix as the best team in the country. It has approximately 5,000 undergraduate students.

"It feels great. I give all glory to God", Kelly said. "They fought back in the game, but the mistakes that we made, all that we gave away, we could not overcome". MORAL: Never talk trash lest you be taken "under consideration".

Jake Coker came off the bench and nearly brought Alabama back from a 20-point deficit.

No. 25 Oklahoma State 69, UTSA 14: STILLWATER, Okla. - Devante Averette scored on a 6-yard fumble return only 45 seconds in, and Oklahoma State (3-0) forced seven turnovers.

No. 17 Texas A&M 44, Nevada 27: In College Station, Texas, Kyle Allen threw four TD passes and ran for a score to lead Texas A&M to its 19th straight nonconference victory, the longest active streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

No. 6 USC was the biggest non-SEC casualty, falling to Stanford 41-31. "We're going to get better, " Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said.

The second half started with one of the wackiest plays you will ever see. But how did Miss. In two weeks, it will have to win at Georgia. Syracuse has been 3-0 since 1991. Oh, yeah, that was last year. Auburn, which lost to LSU, fell out of the top 25. We may have to add Florida beating Kentucky to the list.

On the field, the Crimson Tide committed five turnovers and didn't create any for themselves (and when's the last time an Alabama team needed to do that?).

It's probably close to impossible to game plan for, but Alabama should find a way to keep quarterbacks from faking a scramble and then throwing the ball downfield for a touchdown. If both teams remain undefeated, their game would be for a spot in the postseason.

And now Alabama has to be perfect the rest of the way, which isn't impossible but certainly seems unlikely given the obvious flaws with this roster. Ole Miss was the poll's biggest mover.

So, yeah, luck played its part. Don't tell me the "Twelfth Man" ain't working. Johnson threw for 100 yards and his sixth interception of the season.

My my, trolling an opponent when you got your ass kicked on your own home turf. Moore sent the Ole Miss offense out onto the field.

Running back Leonard Fournette continued his Heisman campaign by rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns for No. 13 LSU, including a 40-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Meantime, Missouri and Clemson could both slide in rankings for winning their games by nominal margins this week over unranked teams.
